What Are Natural Hair Care Products?

Natural hair care products are made almost entirely out of organic materials without the use of chemicals. While it can be hard to find true hair care products for natural hair, many hair care product companies are abandoning chemical laden hair care items in favor of more organic hair care products. By eliminating the harsh chemicals, these companies hope to provide healthier, less damaging hair care.

What Are Natural Hair Care Products?

Many companies claim that their hair care products are natural, but what does this really mean? Most people assume that natural means harmless. Unfortunately, there are many natural compounds that are quite harmful for your hair. Natural usually means that the products contain no synthetic chemicals. Also, the plants that the products come from likely are not treated with insecticides and fertilizers. This is particularly true of organic hair care products.

Many people think they want completely natural hair care products. This means products with absolutely no chemicals in them. What they do not know when they have this in mind is that chemicals are required in shampoo, for example, in order to create foam. These same consumers will not be pleased with a product that does not provide them with a good lather, yet they think they want completely natural products. What they really want is to find beauty products that are as natural as possible. (Preservatives are also required for hair care products to have a shelf life that is manageable.)

Who Produces Natural Hair Care Products?

Aubrey Organics
One popular company specializing in organic hair care products is Aubrey Organics. They do not say that their products are natural, but rather organic. Some chemicals are present in their products, but only the necessary ones, and only chemicals that are proven to be harmless.
Aveda
Another company that creates hair care products for natural hair is Aveda. Again, they do not call their products natural, but rather organic and healthy. Some chemicals are used, such as those to create a rich foaming lather, but only the necessary ones. They do not add additives or dyes to their products unless it is absolutely necessary.
Phytotherathrie
Phytotherathrie, which is sometimes called Phyto, is the third natural product line. They have built their own arboretum where they organically grow and research the plants used in their products. Like the other two companies, they do use some chemicals, but only those that are absolutely essential.

While many consumers are happy to purchase products from companies such as these, others prefer to make their own hair care preparations at home.
